Try it on everything: The World Tapping Summit, 2013

The Tapping Summit is here again and gearing up for 2013 with an abundance of promotional information in the form of YouTube videos, newsletters, web pages, emails and blogs. Almost daily I receive invitations to participate in webinars and join online chats and to watch taster trailers about the big event.

Whether you are already part of the circuit or are tentatively exploring it, it is hard to miss. Yet, despite being supposedly ‘easy’ to sign up for and ‘free’ for all (the creators Nick and Jessica Ortner have a strong policy about not being elitist, or so they profess…), I have struggled to untangle the complex web of forms presented and mass of text in order to navigate past the ‘paid-for’ bits to the one vital part where I could register my interest and qualify for entry without needing to present my credit card.

So, along with touching on the surface of what EFT is and what it can do for you, I will also share how to get access to this year’s summit in order to prevent you from experiencing the same kind of confusion I have had.

I discovered EFT several years ago and was immediately smitten by this relatively simple technique. Not only did it promise and indeed manage to deliver remarkable results, it was easy to learn and open to almost everyone on the planet – everybodies like you and me, like our friends and family, like the people we interact with in the office and those we bump into on the street. Unlike the majority of other therapies, and here I’m referring to the more traditional ones (those that have been around for years and years… snore…), you don’t need to be a scientist, to have an MA or a PHD, to have studied or be prepared to study for an eternity, or even to be qualified (per say) to do it. All you need is an open and receptive mind and the commitment of a few minutes each day.

Sound ideal..? Well.., it is.

EFT, along with several other of the so-called “energy therapies”, is part of a new breed of therapy that is transforming the field of healthcare, putting the power in the hands of the client right from the start. Gone is the need for a decade of analysis, along with the commitment of an hour a week with a licensed practitioner. Gone, also, is the need for patience and perseverance and flexible purse strings. Now, with EFT (paired with its sibling Matrix Reimprinting), you can either book an appointment with a specialist to work 1-2-1, or watch a tutorial online, and then begin healing yourself on your own immediately. And what’s more: it works… Within relatively few sessions, usually around 1-3, you will notice measurable results. Within 10, you can expect to be cured entirely. In fact, the only reason to go on is because it has come to your awareness that you have more than the one issue to deal with, or because you have realised that you have been unconsciously avoiding the true issue, the root cause, believing its deception in presenting itself under the clever guise of something else.

For example:

1) Childhood abandonment may hide beneath the cloak of alcoholism.
2) The inability to commit to meaningful and lasting adult relationships may be connected to bullying at school.
3) Difficulty at work may be related to our relationship with one or both of our parents or siblings.

The list goes on and on…

This is what I like to call ‘Continued Maintenance’ (a process whereby we as individuals work to clear the daily buildup that life presents: arguments at home, disputes at work, grievances on the road, etc…,), and when all is said and done if it, EFT, is really that simple and painless: why not explore it as far as you can? To do otherwise would be doing yourself a disservice.

And it is: both simple and pain free. EFT actually has a technique called the Tearless Trauma Technique, whereby the practitioner guides the client through an entire session without their having to discuss the actual issue or original trauma, what we call the core aspect or root problem, at all, or go anywhere near to it in order to heal it and collapse the associated anchor.

My first experience with this beautifully simple technique was actually with my aunt, who had taken a course and completed Level 1 motivated by her daughter’s increasingly frequent panic attacks. Conventional medicine had thus far failed her. Traditional therapy had had little to no affect. From feeling like she was doomed to a life inside a rapidly shrinking box, my cousin quickly learnt how to calm and cure all impending panic attacks and how to safeguard against any further reoccurrences.

She, my aunt, only tried it on me the once, but I was impressed, and that’s coming from a hardened sceptic… We did half an hour of tapping on an issue that had been plaguing me for over a year and which I had already devoted far too much time to and immediately I was aware of the change inside when I thought about it. To this day, I can still revisit the initial trauma and view it with a detachment that allows me to explore the details without getting emotionally involved. I can look but I no longer get messy.

Needless to say, I was intrigued by this right from the start and determined to learn as much about it as I could in order to first further benefit myself and then later to go out and use it to help other people. It seemed like the ideal modality to compliment my other techniques and to sit next to what I do.

So here I am: qualified, practicing, benefiting, helping and greatly appreciating. And I am continuing to learn, adding additional modalities and refining my technique as I go, so that what I offer is diverse, adaptable and unique. I firmly believe that this new era of therapy, this new take on psychology, is part of a new age of being whereby we as a species finally reach out and take back control of our overly complicated lives, acquiring the tools with which to slow ourselves down and rewind and return closer to the beginning, a place where we were less messed up, less tangled and less soiled. We no longer have to wait to reach the proverbial ‘light at the end of the tunnel’, placing our belief in an elusive ‘far off’ that never appears to get much closer despite what we are promised and told, or how much effort we put into moving towards it. It is there in the here-and-now, up for the taking, available to every single one of us who is prepared to put in the little bit off effort required to move from where we currently stand to where we would rather sit. And the beauty of it is that it is just that: little, small, unassuming. Even the investment of five minutes can achieve results. An hour, and the transformation can be dramatic. Phobias, addictions, allergies, traumas, physical ailments, bodily ills, mental afflictions…. You name it: there is almost nothing it cannot cure. And where it can’t, it still provides a significant improvement in symptoms or an acceptance of a condition so that, as individuals, we may have peace. I cannot get enough of it and I cease to tire of the testimonials I frequently come across online.

Which brings me back in a full circle to where I began: the The Tapping Summit, 2013.
